रीवा-शहडोल रोड के किनारे स्थित ग्राम पंचायत सेमरा में बुधवार को एक दर्दनाक घटना सामने आई। यहां एक जंगली नीलगाय के बच्चे को कुत्तों ने दौड़ाकर बुरी तरह घायल कर दिया। घायल शावक सड़क किनारे कई घंटों तक तड़पता रहा, लेकिन वन विभाग के अधिकारी और कर्मचारी मौके पर नहीं पहुंचे।
ग्रामीणों ने बताया कि उन्होंने घटना की सूचना तुरंत बीट गार्ड, रेंजर और डिप्टी रेंजर को दी थी, लेकिन कई बार फोन करने के बावजूद कोई भी जिम्मेदार अधिकारी मौके पर नहीं आया।
स्थानीय लोगों ने शावक को बचाने की पूरी कोशिश की, लेकिन विभागीय लापरवाही के कारण नीलगाय के बच्चे ने आखिरकार घंटों बाद दम तोड़ दिया।
ग्रामीणों का कहना है कि यह पहली बार नहीं है जब वन्यजीवों से जुड़ी घटनाओं में विभाग की लापरवाही सामने आई हो। उन्होंने उच्च अधिकारियों से इस मामले की जांच कर जिम्मेदार कर्मचारियों पर कार्रवाई की मांग की है।
वन विभाग की ऐसी उदासीनता ने न केवल एक निर्दोष प्राणी की जान ली, बल्कि वन्यजीव संरक्षण के प्रति विभाग की संवेदनहीनता को भी उजागर कर दिया है।
